Draw Custom Polygons on Google Maps

This is a free and user-friendly tool for drawing custom polygons on interactive Google Maps. Whether you're planning service areas, outlining property boundaries, or creating custom templates, this tool lets you draw, color, and manage polygons directly on the map—no coding required.

Key Features

  • Polygon Tool — Activate the polygon tool to turn your mouse into a drawing cursor. Click to create each corner of your shape, then double-click to complete it. You can draw multiple polygons on the same map.
  • Color Picker — Choose a fill color using the toolbar before drawing. Your selected color will apply to the next polygon you draw.
  • Pan Tool — Need to move around the map? Switch to the pan tool in the toolbar to drag and explore without editing shapes.

How It Works

  1. Choose the Pan Tool: Use the on-screen toolbar to choose the polygon drawing tool.
  2. Select a Color: Pick a color to apply to your next polygon.
  3. Draw a Polygon: Click to add points, and double-click to finish your shape.
  4. Repeat as Needed: Draw as many polygons as you'd like. Each one can have a unique color and shape.

This tool uses the Google Maps JavaScript API to offer real-time, responsive interactivity. It works seamlessly with the broader Google Maps Platform and is fully compatible with Google Cloud services.

Helpful Tips

  • To edit an existing shape, select it with the selection tool or try resizing by dragging the bounding box corners.
  • You can actually draw more than just a polygon with this tool — try experimenting with drawing polylines, squares, rectangles and stars.
  • Click to place each vertex. Double-click to complete your shape. Each polygon’s bounding box is calculated in real-time. You can also right-click to remove the last point.
  • There isn't any limit to the number of sides your polygon can have.
  • Take a screenshot to save this map as an image.
  • Hold the SHIFT key when drawing a polygon to pan the map.
  • Looking to draw a circle or radius? Try our radius tool.
  • You can change the polygon color which automatically gives a solid border and a fill with some opacity.
