Start by deciding what you want your world map to show.
You could plot individual locations with markers, use different colors to organize places into categories, connect destinations with routes or draw shapes around larger geographic regions.

You can combine these tools however you'd like.
Use markers to pinpoint specific places on your world map.
You can zoom and click directly on the map or use the search bar to find a location.
For example, you might add markers to China, Germany, Brazil and the Philippines to show countries where your company has offices.
Or you could mark places you've visited across North America, South America, Europe, Africa and Asia.
Markers don't have to represent countries. Zoom in to mark individual cities, attractions, addresses or other locations.
Colors are one of the easiest ways to turn a basic world map into something meaningful.
For a travel map, you might use:
For a business map, colors could represent offices, customers, suppliers or sales territories.
You could also assign colors to different regions of the world.
Select your color from the toolbar before placing a marker, drawing a route or adding a shape. Your selected color will be applied to the new elements you add.
Sometimes a marker is too specific.
If you want to highlight a larger geographic area, use the Polygon Tool to draw a custom shape around it.
You could highlight an individual country such as Egypt, Morocco or Bolivia, or draw around a larger region of Africa, Asia, North America or South America.
Circles are useful when you don't need an exact boundary. Place a circle over an area to quickly call attention to a region of your map.
Use the Route Tool to draw connections between places around the world.
For example, you could map a trip from:
Germany → Egypt → China → Philippines
Or create a route through South America connecting:
Brazil → Argentina → Bolivia → Peru
Routes can also be used to visualize shipping lanes, flight paths, migration, historical journeys or connections between offices and customers.
Choose a color before drawing your route to distinguish different journeys or categories.
Your world map doesn't have to be limited to traditional map elements.
Use Text to add labels, notes or headings directly to your map.
You could label continents like Africa, Asia, North America and South America, identify important regions or add a title explaining what your map shows.
Emojis provide a quick way to make locations visually distinct. You might use them to represent airports, vacation destinations, offices or important events.
Arrows are useful for showing direction and movement, while the paintbrush lets you sketch directly onto the map.
Because you can combine markers, routes, shapes, colors and drawings, there are lots of ways to use the tool.
